Grandma groupiedA few years back, I wrote an article for Tennis magazine called the "Grandma Groupies," about an energetic group of tennis ladies of a certain age who played regularly at Arlington Tennis Center and loved to travel to out-of-town tournaments as a group, making quite a splash wherever they landed (sometimes in hotel pools). Dory Habenicht led the charge, hosting parties and wearing themed outfits, but she had plenty of robust company.

Well, the Grandma Groupies are still at it. For those of you who would like to join these seniors with a slice, they play every other Tuesday at ATC and are always happy to expand their circle. Call ATC at 817-459-6163.

The Arlington Tennis Association's primary focus is on programming for elementary school children with the AISD K-6 KidsTennis programs conducted in the spring and fall at Martin and Lamar High Schools.

The Fort Worth Tennis Association organizes and sponsors tournaments, clinics, school and after-school programs, junior camp and travel scholarships, league championship travel, and support Tennis on Campus and a myriad of other tennis-related projects.

NETT (Northeast Tarrant Tennis) conducts leagues for adults (men, women and mixed) and juniors (junior team tennis and a scholarship program).
