Turned Back at the Mexican border, a Walnut Creek Maintenance Worker Distributes Tennis Equipment to Kids via Texas Churches PDF Print E-mail

The FWPTA helped hardworking family and friends fill three trucks with new and used tennis equipment to take to a few Mexican churches, but the trip took a detour at the border. Read about their journey in Lisa’s Tennis Talk.

T Bar M Racquet Club’s Craig Karseno ran the wildcard singles tournament (won by former SMU Mustang Artem Baradach) last month for the upcoming $100,000 YP Challenger of Dallas. The doubles wildcard tourney is Jan. 13-15, and there will be free admission and drink discounts. The wildcard winners qualify for the main draw, which is from Feb. 4-11.

Tom TolfreeNew tennis enthusiast Thomas Tolfree of Flower Mound has lost 78 pounds by faithfully doing cardio tennis for the past year-and-a-half. He moved here from New York in late 2009 and is now 73 percent of the man he used to be. Read about Tolfree in Lisa's Tennis Talk.

Peggy Brasko’s 7.0 doubles team won the Super Senior Plus (70s) 7.0 held in Austin Nov. 3-6. Congratulations to captain Peggy, Jan Cloin, Nancy Kearney, Sue Hagood, Lily Megill, Nancy King, Shirley Clark, Melinda Denny, BB McClure, Judy Crouch, Kay Magee, Nancy Hurt and Sandra Wimberly.
